      FROM THE COMMANDER

Happy Easter everyone!

First off, Please let me thank everyone for supporting our mission to take care of Veterans in our area. This includes the Honor Guard, who presents our National Colors at the home Packer games and also diligently provides closure for the families of our fallen comrades at their funerals. Then, there are the members of our Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion, who spend inordinate hours making things happen behind the scenes like events for local children and helping at fund raisers like our breakfasts and Booyah’s and brat barns. Without your support we wouldn’t be able to fund the various charities that we give to.

About Breakfasts, we conducted a very successful Breakfast in February! Over one hundred people participated. And it was very pleasing to see so many folks enjoying the work that the Auxiliary and the Son’s put into it. We met some new folks and even passed out a few membership applications.

The winner of the 50/50 was some guy named Keith Garland who along with another guy named Lenny Madison showed up in their dress uniforms for breakfast before going to perform a funeral service for one of those Comrades who has just left our company.

Post 11 will be doing brat barns on the following dates May 24, June 7, and June 28 at the Festival Foods located at 2534 Steffens Ct (Menards-East). This could be challenging with the 4 th of July being in the middle of the week in 2024. Your help will be gratefully accepted. Take care Brothers and Sisters, I'll see you at the March meetings.

Commander Bill Kaczmarek

      FROM THE AUXILIARY PRESIDENT

I want to thank everyone for your kind and caring well wishes while I’ve been recovering from my fall and surgery.

Children and Youth: We donated $280 worth of school supplies to Nicolet Elementary. We voted to partner with them for their monthly food pantry. A bin will be placed at the Post near the front entrance along with a list of needed items. Everyone is invited to participate.

Scholarships- We rolled out the program for the 2024-25 school year. Both Auxiliary and Legion will contribute $500 to each winner.

Badger Girls-A big thank you again this year for the generous donation of $1600 from the Green Bay Packers Give Back. This money will help us sponsor four area high school girls to the Badger Girls State Program this year. We also donated $400 to send a boy to this year’s event. To learn more about the program contact Mary Krutz at marykrutz@twc.com or 920.680.7938.

Veteran Support-$200 was donated to Dogs 2 Dog Tags. $200 was donated to each VA hospital (Waupaca and Milwaukee). Christmas cards/candy was handed out at Veteran Manner and to veterans at St John and N.E.W. homeless shelters.

Poppy Program-A sign up schedule will be posted at the April meeting. We will do the poppy mailing at the March social meeting (March, 26th at 6pm). Gwen Kellner-Green volunteered to hand deliver the store letters. The tentative date for distribution is May 11th and possibly May 12th.
